For nearly 70 years, Midwest City was served by a single Rotary club. Throughout those decades, countless volunteers dedicated their time, talents, and resources to improving our community. Their service laid a strong foundation and deserves recognition.
As communities evolve, however, so do the ways people choose to serve.
Today's professionals, entrepreneurs, young families, retirees, military members, veterans, students, educators, business owners, nonprofit leaders, and community advocates often seek greater flexibility, different meeting styles, and meaningful opportunities to give back. We also recognize that our community is made stronger by people of every faith, every background, every culture, every profession, and every generation. Whether you're religious or non-religious, new to the area or a lifelong resident, everyone who shares a desire to serve others is welcome.
While traditional Rotary remains as important as ever, we believed there was room for another approach -one that could complement existing efforts while welcoming people who may never have considered joining Rotary before.
That belief led to the creation of the Rotary Club of the Original Mile.
Our goal was never to replace another club or compete for members. Our mission is to expand Rotary's reach by engaging new volunteers, developing new leaders, and creating additional opportunities for service throughout Midwest City.
We believe there are hundreds, if not thousands, of people in our community who want to make a difference but simply haven't found the right place to begin. By offering a welcoming, community-focused environment with meaningful projects, modern communication, and a spirit of inclusion, we're opening another door into Rotary.
Our members are committed to hands-on service, fellowship, leadership development, and partnerships with local schools, nonprofits, businesses, military organizations, and civic groups. We believe lasting change happens when people from different backgrounds come together around a common purpose.
As we begin this journey, our first major service project reflects exactly what we stand for. The Rotary Club of the Original Mile has launched a Back-to-School Drive to provide essential school supplies for students throughout Mid-Del Schools. Every child deserves to walk into the classroom prepared, confident, and ready to learn, and we're inviting our community to help make that possible.
