Why Midwest City Matters
A Community Built on Service, Opportunity, and Connection
Every community has a story. Midwest City's story is one of resilience, growth, and neighbors coming together to build something better for the next generation. From its beginnings alongside Tinker Air Force Base to the thriving community it is today, Midwest City has always been defined by people who are willing to serve, volunteer, and invest in the place they call home.
At the Rotary Club of the Original Mile, we believe that understanding our community is the first step toward strengthening it. That is why our mission extends beyond weekly meetings. We are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for service, leadership, and lasting community impact throughout Midwest City.
A City Built on Purpose
Founded during World War II to support the development of Tinker Air Force Base, Midwest City quickly became one of Oklahoma's most important communities. Families, military personnel, educators, entrepreneurs, and skilled professionals came together to build neighborhoods, schools, churches, and businesses that would shape the city's future for generations.
Today, Midwest City continues to honor that legacy while embracing growth and innovation. It remains one of Oklahoma's most diverse and welcoming communities, where longtime residents and newcomers alike work together to improve the quality of life for everyone.

A Strong Business Community
Small businesses are the backbone of Midwest City's economy. From family-owned restaurants and local retailers to healthcare providers, contractors, professional service firms, and entrepreneurs, local businesses help create jobs, support charitable organizations, and sponsor countless community events throughout the year.
These businesses do more than provide products and services. They invest in schools, youth programs, nonprofit organizations, and neighborhood initiatives that make Midwest City a better place to live.
The Rotary Club of the Original Mile is proud to partner with local businesses that share a commitment to giving back and strengthening our community.
Investing in the Next Generation
A thriving community begins with investing in young people.
Midwest City is home to outstanding schools, dedicated educators, and organizations that work every day to help students succeed both inside and outside the classroom. Whether through educational partnerships, scholarship opportunities, mentoring programs, or school supply drives, there are countless ways for community members to support local students.
The Rotary Club of the Original Mile believes that empowering the next generation is one of the greatest investments we can make. Every student who receives encouragement, resources, or mentorship today has the potential to become tomorrow's community leader.
Community Is Built Through Service
Strong communities do not happen by accident. They are built by people who choose to get involved.
Every volunteer hour, every charitable donation, every community cleanup, every food drive, and every act of kindness contributes to making Midwest City stronger.
Throughout the year, residents come together to support local nonprofits, schools, veterans, first responders, and families facing unexpected challenges. These moments remind us that community is not simply where we live. It is how we care for one another.
Service does not require a title or a special skill. It simply begins with a willingness to help.
Why Rotary Matters
For more than a century, Rotary has brought together people who believe they can make a difference through service.
The Rotary Club of the Original Mile continues that tradition by connecting individuals from all backgrounds who share a common purpose: improving the lives of others while building lasting friendships and stronger communities.
Our members volunteer together, support local initiatives, develop leadership skills, welcome guest speakers, and create opportunities for fellowship that strengthen both our club and our city.
Whether you are a business owner, teacher, military member, retiree, healthcare professional, entrepreneur, student, or simply someone who wants to give back, there is a place for you.
Opportunities to Make a Difference
There are countless ways to serve in Midwest City.
You can volunteer at community events, support local schools, mentor young leaders, participate in neighborhood improvement projects, assist nonprofit organizations, help organize fundraisers, or simply lend your talents to causes that matter.
The Rotary Club of the Original Mile exists to connect people with those opportunities while creating meaningful friendships along the way.
Every member brings unique experiences, ideas, and talents that help strengthen our community.
Looking Toward the Future
Midwest City continues to grow, adapt, and evolve. New businesses are opening, neighborhoods are expanding, and community organizations continue to find innovative ways to meet local needs.
The future of our city will be shaped by the people who choose to become involved today.
Whether through volunteer service, civic leadership, mentorship, or simply lending a helping hand, every individual has the ability to leave a positive mark on Midwest City.
Together, we can continue building a community that values service, supports one another, and creates opportunities for generations to come.
