At our latest Rotary Club of The Original Mile meeting, we had the opportunity to recognize Carol Jane Thompson and the impact she has made through the creation and moderation of the I ❤️ Midwest City Facebook Group. What began as an online community has grown into a place where neighbors can connect, share information, ask questions, support local businesses, and stay engaged with what's happening throughout Midwest City. It started with one person (Carol), and has grown to approximately 20,000 members. It has become one of (if not) the most active Facebook Groups in the city.

Carol's story is a great reminder that community service can take many forms. Sometimes making an impact starts simply by creating a space where people feel connected. Building and maintaining an online community takes patience, consistency, and a willingness to bring people with different backgrounds and perspectives together.

That's exactly the kind of community connection we want to celebrate at The Rotary Club of The Original Mile. Our meetings give us an opportunity to hear from people who are making a difference and learn more about the many ways people contribute to our community. Thank you, Carol, for sharing your story with us and for the time and energy you've invested in helping Midwest City stay connected.
